Mother's Day

What a very special day! My first Mother's Day! It was a very nice day! For most of you who know me well- Sam knows how to win my heart and is now teaching Mary Kate. I rec'd a blue box-yes Tiffany's! I love Tiffany's! Mary Kate is learning very early on what a blue box and white ribbon is. We just hung out together and had a very nice day. Unfortunately, we had to attend a funeral this afternoon. John Moore, a wonderful family friend and once a major part of Mom Wilson's died on Thursday of this past week. So we went to the funeral this afternoon and Mary Kate had her first babysitter - of course not being either of our mom's or aunts and uncles. Yes we are the luckiest people in Delaware- Mary Kate got to hang out with Nancy (our doctors wife and the most wonderful nurse ever!) and their daughter Vicky. She was pretty good.

Anyway, we had a really nice day together! Sam and I agreed that we appreciate our moms so much more now that we have a child.

Ava's 4th Birthday

Last weekend we were in Cincinnati for our niece's birthday party! I can't believe that Ava is 4 already. Mary Kate loves both of her cousins Ava and Jackson so much. It is so cute to see them together. We had a really nice time. Mary Kate met Ava and Jackson's cousin Caymen and really loved him too. They are a month apart and really took to eachother. It was fun to watch them interact.

Visit to Cincinnati

We were back home in Cincinnati for the weekend this past week and enjoyed the visit. Mary Kate got to hang out with her Mami and Papa as well as all of her aunts and uncles. Although her very favorite was her cousins Ava and Jackson. She loved to play and watch their every move. It was so much fun to see them hang out. Mary Kate is really starting to form a personality and it is so much fun to see her change every day.

I am not sure if I have an excuse for not posting till now. Things have been busy in the Snavley Household. Mary Kate turned 6 months old on Monday the 28th and she has been a busy little girl. Some major milestones to date are:

* Starting to sit up on her own!

* 1st tooth in the bottom is coming in!

* Rolling over like crazy!

* Eating Baby Food (her favorate is sweet potatoes)!

A good story for all that know us well- Grandma took Mary and I shopping on Monday for her 6 month birthday and we were at Old Navy and I was showing her some outfits that we were looking at getting for her. No kidding- she would smile real big and laugh at each outfit. People that were standing around us thought it was a great show. In more words than one- WE ARE IN TROUBLE! Not only does she like clothes (well her Mommy wants her to like them since we have tons) but she loves to be the center of attention.

She is so much fun although very busy! Loves to know what is going on around her. So much fun! We are really having a blast together. When daddy comes home from work he reads to her and she loves that time. Sleeping really well! She goes to sleep at 7:00 and wakes up at 7:00. It is like clock work. Naps are getting much better! We have graduated to 1 hour naps instead of 20 mintues. Mom can really get some work done.

Anyway, I will try to do a better job at posting. We hope that you enjoy the pictures and see how much she has grown.

Spring Break- Mary Kate 5 Months

Last week we experienced our first vacation with Mary Kate. Vacation takes on a whole new meaning with a 5 month old but we had a really good time. The crew consisted of my dad (Tom), my mom (Vickie), and my sister Hannah. We rented a conversion van and left on Easter Sunday for Charleston. Of course with it being a 11 hour drive we stopped half way at a casino in Cherokee. For those of you who don't know- vacation for Sam and I prior to Mary Kate was always Vegas so we thought we would try to throw a little gambling into our trip. It was an interesting drive. Sam had to drive the van through the Smoky Mountains. At times it was a little scary but a very scenic route. Once we got there and got everyone settled- dad, Sam and I went down to the casino. Cherokee was good to us...actually my dad won the jackpot! He won $3000 on a slot machine. It made his vacation- on just the first day!

The next day we all packed back into the van and drove into Charleston. It was an easier drive then the day before. Mary Kate did really well although we still had to stop a few times. The weather was cold- of course we were a little scared of that. With Easter being really early this year it was still pretty cold. So we had to bundle everyone up. Prior to leaving we invested in a B.O.B running stroller for Mary Kate and took that with us. It was GREAT! We all loved the BOB.

The first day in Charleston we decided to drive into Kiawah Island to check it out. We all had heard great things about the resort and the Island there so we wanted to go and see what it was like. We went to the Sanctuary which is the 5 star resort there and it was so beautiful. It sits on the beach and had amazing decor. We loved it! We loved it so much that we went back to Charleston and did some site seeing for one more day and then we checked out of the hotel there and stay the last night at the Sanctuary.

At this point the weather had gotten better and we were able to take walks on the beach and lay out by the pool. Mary Kate really enjoyed being outside since she hasn't really been able to do that much this winter! She loved being able to check eveything out.

On Thursday we ended up driving through the night-actually Sam did all the driving. We made it home around 4 am but it worked out because Mary Kate slept the whole time.

Now we are home and trying to get back on routine. It is tough! She thinks that she is allowed to stay up till 9:00 pm and still wake up at 6:00am. So we are working on that.

While we were on vacation- Mary Kate turned 5 months old. She is getting so big everyday. It is amazing how fast they grow up. She really is starting to LOVE her dog- Molly. Loves to just look at her and touch her. She loves to play with her toys and is enjoying eating her hands. She talks and smiles all the time-- we are having so much fun! We are looking forward to the nice weather so we can get out and take walks and hang out.

Bumbo Chair

Mary Kate loves the camera. She loves to look at the flash. Wonder where she gets this from?

She loves the little red bird. She holds it and talks to it all the time. Her new favorite thing to do is to sit in her Bumbo chair. She loves to hold her head up and play with her toys.

She goes and visits Grandma and Grandpa at the store and the chair is perfect. She sits on the counter and gets all the attention. Wonder who else got a lot of attention when he was this age?

Grandma bought her a hat the other day and she looked so cute. She is growing up so much and changing everyday. She talks more and has little laughs more and more each day. She loves to talk and watch her Mommy and Daddy talk to her. Her other favorite toys are the cow and dog that make noises and hang on her car seat. She gets a kick out of watching them. WE are having a blast with her and can't wait for the days to come.

3 months

Mary Kate will be three months old on Jan. 20th! We just can't believe how fast time has gone with Mary Kate in our lives. She has been a lot of fun over the last few weeks. Some of the major changes that we have seen in her:

* she already has boyfriends- the lights in the ceiling. She will stare at them for hours and talks to them but gets mad when they don't talk back.

* she has been smiling a lot more lately and really focuses on people

* very light sleeper... she wakes up to just about everything-but is sleeping through the night- Mommy loves that b/c she was missing my sleep.

* for some reason she loves trips in the car--could it be because she has already been to Cincinnati 5 times since she has been born.

* Mary Kate loves to shop.. don't be surprised- both her mom and dad love to shop but her Grandma Snavley takes her shopping on Mondays!

*She ate her first rice ceral meal and has really enjoyed it!

At the beginning of the month we went to see Dr. Schuler and got a great report. Mary Kate weighed 12 lbs. and was 22.5 inches. She had to get her first shots and did really well. She cried for a little while but her mom cried more than she did. We feel so blessed that we have a healthly little girl.
